Bob is an experienced attorney who has represented commercial and banking clients for more than thirty-five years. His clients have ranged from start-up incubator companies to billion-dollar publicly-traded corporations. He also served in the capacity of general counsel or special counsel to several banks and mortgage bankers.
In addition to practicing law, Bob started and operated a company involved with electrical engineering and manufacturing. He grew this business to a national scale with multiple plants located throughout the United States before selling the business to a “Fortune 500” company.
Mr. Hayes was selected to be Chairman of the Board for the Luther Forest Technology Park Corporation. In that capacity he worked with the governor’s office and senate majority leader with responsibility for the negotiation and purchase of the land, administration of several hundred million dollars of State and Federal grants and installation of substantial portions of infrastructure. The park is now the home of Global Foundries.
Mr. Hayes has also served on various other corporate and volunteer boards including President of the Board for the Saratoga Economic Development Corporation, Director for Welbourne and Purdy, Home Funding Finders Inc. (mortgage banker), Chase Manhattan Bank (advisory board), Provantage Funding Inc. (mortgage bank), Ebeling & Associates (computer programing), Polyset Company and President of both Cannon Point Condominiums and The Lake George Club.
Bob is a graduate of the Clarkson University and holds a BS degree in Engineering. He received his Juris Doctorate from Union University at Albany Law School. He has been admitted to the New York State Courts, Federal District Court, United States Tax Court and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Hayes served in the United States Army Reserve attaining the rank of Captain.
Robert A. Hayes is a multifaceted individual with a rich and diverse professional journey. With a background as a Developer, Entrepreneur, and former Bank Executive, his story is one of relentless determination and success.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found a New York State Licensed Mortgage Bank, which was eventually acquired by Wilber National Bank. Robert’s exceptional leadership skills earned him a prominent role as the Regional President, where he provided strategic direction for Commercial & Retail Lending, Retail Branches, and oversaw the bank’s activities in the Albany Capital District Region.
Prior to his banking career, Robert excelled as a Plant Manager at Active Industries Inc., a national electrical engineering manufacturer. His tenure there culminated in the successful sale of the company to a Fortune 500, marking a significant achievement.
In addition to his banking endeavors, Robert is the co-founder and managing partner for Hayes Development Company (www.Hayes-Development.com), a firm responsible for developing over a half-million square feet of commercial real estate in Saratoga County, NY. Recent projects near GLOBALFOUNDRIES include a professional Office Building, Flex-Warehouse, and a thriving Multifamily Community.
Robert’s impressive portfolio boasts the completion of the multifamily community, the Lofts at Saratoga BLVD, in 2021. This outstanding project comprises 278 townhouse-style apartments, strategically located in the heart of Saratoga County.
Education-wise, Robert is a graduate of the University of Rochester, holding degrees in Economics and Management. His quest for knowledge led him to the prestigious MIT Entrepreneurial Masters Program (EO EMP), further enhancing his skills and insights.
Robert’s contributions to the business world have not gone unnoticed. He is a recipient of the Capital District Business Review’s esteemed “40 under forty” award and the Saratoga “20 Entrepreneurs under 40” award. His dedication to entrepreneurship is evident through his twelve-year membership in the Albany Entrepreneurs Organization, where he also served on the Board of Directors. Additionally, Robert has held pivotal roles such as President of the Board of Directors for the Mortgage Bankers Association and Treasurer. His commitment to community extends to roles such as President of the Oak Ridge Homeowners Association, Treasurer for the Saratoga Volleyball Club 503c, committee membership with the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, and current membership in the Albany 50 Group, comprised of senior executives from the region’s largest companies.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Robert cherishes life in Saratoga Springs, NY, with his wife Brittany Hayes, a CPA, and their two wonderful children.
